Ski West Yellowstone in November:

Yellowstone Rendezvous Race
February 23, 2008

Are you ready to put a winter’s worth of training to the test while you enjoy the beauty of the Yellowstone region? You are invited to participate in the 29th annual Yellowstone Rendezvous Race on February 23, 2008 in West Yellowstone, Montana. There are six different races to choose from depending on your age and ability:  2K, 5K, 10K, 25K classic, 25K and 50K. The six races are run concurrently and skiers of all ages and abilities participate every year. The Rendezvous Race is the culmination of cross country ski racing in our region and, as the name implies, it is a reunion of old timers and new comers alike who have trained and skied on our trail system for years or who are skiing here for the first time.  Run on the beautifully groomed, rolling terrain of the Rendezvous Ski Trails, there is no better way to celebrate the end of the winter season than to ski in the Yellowstone Rendezvous Race!

The 2008 Yellowstone Rendezvous Race will once again be part of the American Ski Marathon Series - North America's longest-running and largest citizen's racing and touring series - that highlights long distance ski events throughout the country. In the past, the race has attracted over 800 skiers and we are hoping to top that this coming year. In the 2007 race, Ian Harvey won the Men’s 50K with a time of 2:20:56 while Kate Underwood won the Women’s 50K with a time of 2:35:14. In the Men’s 25K Ben Morley won with a time of 1:13:16 and in the Women’s 25K Crystal Ward won with a time of 1:24:04. Chris Holmquist won the Men’s 25 K Classic race with a time of 1:24:27 and Kelly Milligan won the Women’s 25 K Classic with at time of 1:30:04. For a complete set of results, click on the “Results” tab at the top of the page. We hope that you will register for this season’s race today and come see all that West Yellowstone has to offer.

Back this year:  Montana Stars event photographers will be taking photos of all race participants. Action photos will be available for viewing and purchase online at www.montanastars.com by Tuesday, February 26, 2008.

The Yellowstone Rendezvous Race organizers and volunteers thank you for your participation in this outstanding cross country ski event. Race organizers would also like to thank Xanterra Parks and Resorts and the other generous sponsors and supporters that help make the event possible. During the week before the race, skiers flock to West Yellowstone to scope out the race course and to take advantage of the race’s proximity to Yellowstone National Park. Although spring is on the horizon, March is still wintertime in the high country. Imagine foggy images of bison and elk afloat in misty snowscapes painted with steamy hot springs and glistening white powder. Many racers incorporate a stay at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge or Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel into their visit to the region. For more information on those hotels visit Xanterra’s website: www.travelyellowstone.com

Put the Yellowstone Rendezvous Race on your calendar now – February 23, 2008 – and get ready for another great race. There is more information about the race on the other pages of this website. Please read all of the information carefully before you register. If you have any questions, contact:
